Statement

ELIZABETH SHEPHERD Born in Fife 1945. Graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone Art College Dundee in 1969 with a diploma in Drawing and Painting .

A member of Dundee Contemporary Arts Print Studio, she is currently doing a series of old Fife domestic buildings in etching and lithography. She is a professional member of SSA and VAS and has an etching of an old barn in the current RSA show (November 2012) She has taken part in exhibitions with RSA, SSA, VAS, RGI and Aberdeen Artists. She has had work purchased for public and private collections, and took part in an exhibition held in Scottish House Brussels to show the work of Scottish artists, in Portland Museum Oregon, and many other places in the UK and abroad. She lives in Crail Fife and is inspired by the old farm buildings, boats and flowers around her.

Biography

Elizabeth Shepherd was born in 1945 in Dunfermline Fife. She attended the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art Dundee, and graduated in 1969 with a diploma in Drawing and Painting. She was considered for the Royal College of Art but had two small children by then and did not want to go to London.

She had six children, one of whom she looked after until she died in 2005 after being diagnosed with ms at university.

She always loved printmaking since her mother taught her linocutting at the age of two or three, and is a member of the Dundee Contemporary Arts Print studio where she did a lot of screenprinting in the past and at present is doing solar plate etchings and lithography on stone.

She is a professional member of the SSA and VAS

For the last two years she has been making solar plate etchings and lithographs from her drawings of old domestic buildings in the East Neuk of Fife where she lives. At this moment (March 2013 , she is drawing on old building at Cambo which is about to be made into a distillery.
